Pancreas transplant with diabetic nephropathy?

Can someone explain the patho to this to me please?

I understand that the vasculature is negatively effected in diabetes which warrants for kidney disturbance.

So kidney transplant makes sense, but I'm having a learning gap with why the pancreas would need to be replaced also.
