One good thing that happened at work today...

Nurses General Nursing

We see so much negativity about nursing (which we all know is often warranted) and many venting threads (which thank God we have someplace safe to vent our frustrations), that I would love to hear about one good thing that happened on your shift today. Even if it was the ONLY good thing that happened all day, LOL! Think hard and let's see how long we can keep it going!

I'll start. I'm a school nurse, and today is the last school day before our two week Winter Break. Besides the obvious benefit, this means lots of hugs today, which are always appreciated! :icon_hug:

I had one of my residents tell me how happy she was to see me. I got a couple of hugs from a couple of my residents. Oh one of my demented old ladies told me she loved me. I do not know if she really knew who I was, but it felt good anyway.

Chocolate lots and lots of chocolate from family members. What day is not better with chocolate unless you are one of those crazy people who does not like chocolate. Look for the my butt is so big vent after the New Year. = )

My pt coded and right when it was called, we got a pulse. Got the pt back just in the nick of time. Made me feel good about being a nurse!

A tearful mom who had received bad news on her sick baby that day (not devastating, more disappointing) told me that my hugging her was the only good thing that had happened to her all day.

One of our babies who wasn't expected to make it home at all was discharged today--he is doing awesome!

Great post by the way :).

I have the day off! I'm actually looking forward to going back tomorrow... I feel slightly useless on long off stretches.
