Oklahoma Senators Turn Backs on State's Native American Population

Ignoring the will of the Oklahoma legislature and the welfare of thousands of Oklahoma Indians, Oklahoma's U.S. Senators once again found their own "bizarre" reasons to vote against state interests when they were among only 10 Senators to oppose passage of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, State Democratic Party Chairman Dr. Ivan Holmes said today.

The Senate's passage of the Indian Health Care bill comes after many years of trying and was a significant achievement for its main sponsor, North Dakota U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan.

"It's scandalous when our federal government spends almost twice as much per person for health care for federal prisoners as we do for First Americans," Dorgan said.

As usual, Senators Coburn and Inhofe, have made fools of themselves. They certainly do not represent me! They should be ashamed of themselves...
