Nursing future

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am looking for advice on this topic because, I'm not entirely certain what I should do. I have been an RN for almost 12 years and have about 25+ more years left before retirement becomes a reality. I currently work for a hospital system that was one of the better ones to work for in this area but things have changed. I have maxed out my pay with this employer and was informed with the rest of the staff RNs that due to budget concerns, it was decided by higher ups that RNs that have maxed out their pay will not receive any bonuses. Is it worthwhile to stay with this employer when I am looking at the fact that for a very long time I will not get a pay increase ever, or should I look for greener pastures?

Are you dissatisfied with your employer?

Are you currently happy with your pay?

Over the next 25 yrs, others with less seniority will be getting raises. As the gap closes, they will lose more and more experienced nurses due to the salary cap and your employer will need to raise the cap on employees like you. Who knows how long that will take.
