:D Just thought we needed a new poll...

Two - one on the top of each foot - black spiders

I've got a tattoo. Actually, I thought about it for about ten years before I got it. My Irish grandmother picked out a cool celtic cross with shamrocks around it and had it engraved on her tombstone. Her and my grandfather are now dead and share the stone. For me, the tattoo on my upper arm has much meaning. I don't regret it one bit. Actually thinking of getting one on my other arm. However, the tattoos that are the product of a drunken adventure, I do not agree with! I do think it's a very big decision since it will be with you the rest of your life.

I have one on my right ankle...its an eagle feather (signifying my native american heritage) with a red rose wrapped around it....its pretty hidden by my pants/socks....but I have gotten a few positive comments from patients...I like my tatoo, and glad I got it, but don't think i'd get another...

Specializes in Hey I'm now an RN!!.

i have a fairy on the small of my back and a vine with a shamrock on my right ankle. both coverable. i haven't regretted them yet, i've had them for about 9 years. did have a belly ring...had to take it out when i was pregnant with my first son...not too attractive with a big belly. sadly the stretch marks will prevent me from getting it done again!! :uhoh3:

i think that when some people see a tatoo they automatically think "delinquent" which was never true in my case, i know it makes some people uncomfortable and i wouldn't expose them in the workplace just for that reason, i wouldn't want people to stereotype me or the care that i am capable of.

like it or not being tatooed does carry a stigma...

When I was in college, my sorority's president and treasurer crossed the state line to get their tattoos, got drunk, and got our SORORITY BADGE tattooed on their BUTTS!!! Oh, what would the founding sisters say???? Ha ha!!! ;)

I have always been intrigued by tattoos...but have never gotten one because I can't decide what design I want (and would STILL want through the years), or on what body part.

Right now, I'm leaning toward a subtle Christian/religious design (like a vine, or a dove, or an olive branch or something, maybe?) - across the small of my back. Or maybe something sexy (what, I don't know!) on my hip/bikini area. If I got one, it would definitely have to be something unique, not something I see on everyone else on the beach.

I have also always liked the infinity symbol (looks like a figure 8, on its side).

Anybody know of good online tattoo photo/idea galleries?

HEAR, HEAR!!

I have always thought it would be nice to have one, but the thought of a faded old, outdated tattoo, slipping and sliding on the old wrinkley skin, to places it didn't originate from, always stops me from getting one!

Get a tattoo of a turkey! Problem solved!

Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!

i have 9 tattoo's all together, covering from head to toe. thre is only 2 that you can see and that are the notical stars on my forarms. i have almost a half sleeve on my left arm and working on my full chest piece, two on my back and my tummy.

i do have piercings 12 in all. two of them being facial but, i do take them out for work and was hired with them in at the time.

to me i think of tattoo's as art and a way to express yourself. i don't think because someone has tattoo's or piercings they can't do a better job then someone who doesn't. if someone wants to judge me for the way i look because of it, it's there lose not mine and better off they don't talk to me anyway:chuckle

Yes, I have a tattoo and I got it two weeks ago, I am 54 and my son couldn't believe it, he was speechless. My wife, also a nurse, went out and got one two days later, very nice, her birthsign Pisces on her ankle. Mine is a Yin Yang sign and means a lot to me. No, my skin is not sagging yet. :imbar

i personally do not have any tattoos, and i would never get one. for two reasons: (1) pain factor (2) the age thing, what started out a lot higher by the time i'm 80 just wouldn't be in the same place. my husband has 4 tattoos, all of which are fine, i have nothing against them, i just wouldn't want one personally. it all depends on the person, just like everything else.

i hope noone judges you on your appearance instead of your abilities. as i am the owner of multiple piercings and tattoos both professioal and home made, i ave made the informed choice to remove the peircings and cover the tattoos so i can have an easier path through my career.

with respect; exhibiting your individuality can work against you in a professional sense.

truth: clean, shaved and ironed clothes work for me.
