Non Nursing Degree Looking Into Becoming A Pediatric Np

  1. Hi, I just joined this site and find it very informative. I have a BS in Health Administration and am currently pursuing MS in Health Administration. I am intrested at becoming a Pediatric NP, I was wondering if there was anyone that could give me some advice on some programs that offers a BSN/MSN degree that also has a Pediatric NP degree. I will completing my masters degree Fall 2005. I would also like hear from any Pediatric NP about their positions and the salary. I currently live in Maryland, DC, VA area and I am also interested in Atlanta, GA.

I'm not a PNP, but I've worked with several and a good friend of mine is a PNP. Salary in the east/southeast runs about $60K for the most part (not uncommon at all for staff RNs to outearn the NPs). Positions vary depending on practice you join. Some work M-F days, some cover PICU at night, some work in pedi ERs, some work in pediatricians offices -- like anything else in nursing, it all depends on where you work.
