Nightmares about work??

Nurses General Nursing

I've always been a heavy dreamer - and occasionally I'll have them about work. Last night was a doozy!!

I dreamed that when I went to start my morning med pass in the LTCF where I work, that they had completely changed the med cart - and the cart only came up to my knees. None of the meds were in cassettes, they were just loose in the drawers. I couldn't find the nitro patches or eye gtts I usually give. AND the box with the narcs was missing and I couldn't find it anywhere!!:( :(

THEN I discovered in the couple of days that I had been gone, that they had added on a whole new wing that I didn't even know about - so, of course, I hadn't even been in to see those patients!

Anyone else do this?:uhoh21:

I have had dreams that I would be standing in the middle of the nurses station and all my diabetic residents were standing in a line as if to be waiting to get their BS taken. However, I would look up and the activity aids were giving them sugar cookies and kool aid. I would scream "stop that dumb dumb" but they acted like they couldnt hear me and I tried to get to them but all I Could do was that slow motion walking buisness and by the time i got to them they had ate all there goodies.....lol:nurse:

This is probably the biggest trend in nursing-related nightmares.

If you do a search, you'll likely find several posts on this topic over the past few years. Many of us have these dreams, even after working as nurses for a long time. I have been doing it for 8 years, and I still have dreams at least a few times a year where I find out at the end of my shift that I've had a patient that I didn't know about.

It's normal to have these dreams, so don't worry too much!

Thanks, gompers, but I don't worry about them. I realize that they are reflections of my subconscious concerns.

They still are pretty bizarre sometimes, tho!!
