I am back to bug you guys again. Sorry. I just thought I would let you guys see the program my community college offers, and that way you all can see in detail what it is. I know it is hard to tell someone what to do or how to break a program down without seeing it. So here it is. Let me know what you guys think. Whats the best way to do it with out being too overloaded. Thanks!!!!

Well...here's what I personally would do....

I'd get all the college courses out of the way possible that aren't nursing before starting nursing courses. If you want to keep the same number of semesters, then with the pre-reqs I'd also take the English and Speech and possibly even the history or sociology if you can handle that many classes. Then I would take the rest of the classes pretty much in the order they are listed. If you are willing to add one semester, you could get all the non-nursing courses done before taking nursing classes.

I would really start taking the prereq if you haven't been accepted into the program and then go into the program after you get some of the other classes taken care of. I did that by going to school part time and working part time and then taking my nursing classes by them selves. It made going through the program a lot less stressful than working through it all in a couple of years. JMO is all :D

That is what I took when I was in nursing school, because I was not able to take pre reqs before. It was hard as he**. I never had a moment to myself, and managed to keep my scholarship until the last semester, then lost it by half a point. It was hard for me because I always had to study my butt off. I got by with Bs and Cs. Good luck.

You will all you have to do to keep up w/the NURSING courses. GET THE OTHER GARBAGE KNOCKED OUT NOW like they said above. Trust me, nursing alone will keep you up late at night, with care-plan writing, studying, reading 300-pg assignments. Personally, MY nursing program director did NOT admit ANYONE with outside course work to do other than nursing, and it was configured much the same way this program is. You likely WILLNOT BE ABLE TO DO IT ON THE SCHEDULE shown here!!!! Be smart, get the other "stuff" done and then apply to nursing school and go from there. You will be sorry otherwise.

Thanks a bunch! I am going to take the advice. I will let you know how this are going.

Thanks, Ali

Hi there! I first graduated from a two year degree program before obtaining a BSN. Most of the students in my class took three years to complete the program, including myself. I suggest taking the pre-requisites and all of the non-nursing classes the first year and then concentrate on the nursing classes the next two years. Often summer terms are a good time to get some of the classes out of the way - always seemed easier then. Several years ago I taught peds clinicals for a community college. Again, most of the students completed the program in three years or more. Some started out taking the full load and then had to drop the nursing classes and get everything else out of the way before they went back to the nursing classes. Nursing classes that include clinicals are very time consuming and also some science classes have labs that add to the hours in class each week. Unless you have only yourself to be responsible for and are extremely disciplined at managing your time to study, I suggest taking three years to complete the program.
