How pricey is it? And what's a good company to get it through?

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

For a basic RN, around $100 a year or so, higher for advance practice nurses/NPs. Not sure what the pricing is for LVNs.

There are several other companies out there so you do have options. I use NSO since that's the first one I found as a nursing student, and I've no complaints with them.

I highly recommend getting insurance for your own protection. If something were to happen, your employer is going to act primarily to protect their own best interests...which may or may not mean you'll be thrown under the bus. Having your own means that you have someone there who is out to protect YOU and ONLY your interets. I won't ever work without it in place.

I have used NSO (nso.com) since 2004. I just re-newed my policy today with a $3 million dollar cap and it was $104 for a year of coverage. I would not work as an RN without having my own coverage because your employer is not going to stand behind you if you are accused of malpractice. I don't know about you but I have worked to hard for what I have and don't feel like giving it away because I was accused of wrong doing.

Take care and God Bless! :cat:
