Received the following e-mail from the RNAO this week. I would like to see as many Ontario nurses as possible take part in this protest!!

CALLING ALL STUDENTS! CALLING ALL YOUTH!

Our public health is under attack from a virulent new virus:

PRIVATIZATION!

Even more virulent than foot-and-mouth disease, this virus attacks the

central nervous systems of hospitals, clinics, nurses, family and

specialist practices, leaving them unable to deliver even basic health care

to anyone earning less than $100,000.00.

Make no mistake: IT CAN BE DEADLY!

Born as a result of social-Darwinist genetic engineering experiments in

the United States, it spread north into Canada last year. So far, doctors,

nurses, students and citizens had managed to keep this virus confined to

Alberta, but now it has become clear that Ontario's own Premier and

Minister of Health have become infected.

Witness Mike Harris' remarks this week on the t.v. show Focus Ontario: "I

think we need to look to the private sector [...] We should not be afraid to

say 'Can the private sector run this hospital better?'"

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW! THE PREMIER MUST BE DISINFECTED OF

THIS VIRUS BEFORE IT SPREADS!

Join hundreds of your fellow students at Queen's Park, 3:00pm, Tuesday

May 8th as we DISINFECT THE PREMIER OF THE PRIVATIZATION

VIRUS!

The event will be accompanied by speeches from politicians working the

front lines of this operation; nursing and medical students looking for

new ways to combat the spread; and Shirley Douglas, the daughter of Tommy

Douglas, who founded Canada's medicare system, and a lady who herself has

devoted much effort to the cause.

Join us afterwards for a march downtown to the Business Conference on

National Issues, where we'll disinfect them too!
