Lazy, useless supervisor

Nurses General Nursing

I regularly work with 6 other nurse's, we all get along very well, great team work, everyone pitches in when needed. Our problem is the new supervisor hired 6months ago. She is under the impression that we are to do our work and then cheerfully do hers also. While she sits on the phone talking to her husband and adult children or goes on frequent breaks.

She kisses management's a#* and is needed because they don't want to have to fill in if she chooses to leave. She has been complaining to management about our "Attitudes" because we balk about her trying to pass her work on to us. I must stress we are polite to her, we do our work but when she asks us to do this or that for her while she is reapplying her lipstick for the 10th time , we all of a sudden get busy. She gives us the impression that she is "slumming" at our facility and that she has worked at "bigger and better". She regularly spouts off her resume to try to impress anyone within earshot. Come on, I'll be impressed when you can do your job here!! She passes things off to the next shift as if they are also supposed to do what she doesn't feel like doing.

We have spoken to management about some of this and been pacified but nothing has been solved, because they are walking a fine line trying to keep all of us somewhat satisfied. We had 1 nurse quit over this a month ago, and the rest of us are giving it serious consideration. 2 of us were offered this job but declined. If we only knew what we were getting ourselves into.

Document your concerns over the course of a week. Bring them as a group to her attention and to management's. Stick to the facts and how her behavior makes you feel.

I know you're really just venting and not asking for advice. People like that usually don't last long anyway. Good luck.

document, document, document. I took photos of one our employees sleeping so soundly that the flashes (more than one photo) didn't wake her! Some folks are so brazen. :(
