HMMMMM.............JUST INTODUCED AS THE PREFERRED WAY OF CHARTING IN OUR HOSPITAL.

wE ARE TO GO TO THE IOS, OBTAIN THE NECESSARY INFO AND NOTE IT IN OUR SHIFT SMMARY ON THE COMPUTER. Sorry for the caps...........seems like total redundancy to me................THEY say it's safe patient handoff. I say too much time in front of the computer. The info is already there you just have to look it up, not be spoon fed. What ever happened to charting by exception???? One other piece here is I work on a 23 hour observation floor, people come and go quickly..............

Sorry for the vent, I am curious is this going on anywhere else?

They started this at our hospital at the same time--perhaps the same one as you--but after three months, Id have to say its not working and I still rely on nurses shift notes and reports. Handoffs with personal comments from live humans work best for me!!! [MOUSE]DUH[/MOUSE]

I think its another hospital "policy" to impress the great ones.
