How long did it take you to complete the RN program?

i have been admitted to the bsn program in which the actual rn portion is said to take 1.5 years (5 semesters) if you go full time. i am curious to know how long it actually took you to get through the rn program and how long it took you all togther to get your bsn.

Med school is for people to become MDs.

a BSN program for nursing is for people to obtain a Bachelor's in nursing (which doesn't make you a nurse until you pass the NCLEX)

Lol I think I worded it wrong. I meant to ask if it was as long as medical school. I heard Medical school is 4 years.

You're right, med school is 4 years, but that's AFTER 4 years of undergrad! A BSN is just the 4 years of undergrad :) And doctors have to do 3 years of residency after med school.

Yikes! 11 years of school??! I don't think I could ever manage that lol.

I thought BSN by its definition meant 8 semesters / 4 years... no?

It entirely depends on how much time you have. It only took me 3.5 because I took summer classes to satisfy prerequisite and general requirements in the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2006, totaling 5 classes, so that knocked off 1 traditional semester. If I didn't do that, I'd probably have just graduated last month instead of in December.

There are also accelerated BSN programs for those who already have a BA in another field. You have to take all the prerequisites before you start, and the accelerated programs are anywhere from two years to twelve months... but this is just nursing school, no prereqs or GE's, etc....
