Nurses General Nursing

Published

Okay, this is a psychiatric thread . I check the psychiatric topic but It was checked like once a week(if I may be right).

Well one of my friend had an assignment and she asked me the approaches of mental health nursing. I am not good at mental health nursing (but can read minds;) ) anyway I want to contribute my ideas for the assgnment but Like I said I don't KNOW the answer.

Can anyone help my friend and also help me understand what is the approaches to mental health nursing. Is there 2 or 3 or 4?

Oh and administrators please don't move the thread to the psychiatric topics where it will rot........I want this thread for everyone to see and help.

Thank you all for the support.

;) ;) ;) :D

There is not a certain number of approaches. Mental health is involved in all phases of nursing...it cannot really be separated out. There are many books on the subject.

Is the question how to approach certain behavior problems or can you be more specific?

Thanks bargain.

Why can't their assignment be more specific!!!!. It pisses me to read her assignment and it says,

Evaluate two (2) different approaches to mental health Nursing.

I think its approaches to mental health nursing general. Or probably there are some approaches to how nursing is to mental health or is it the psychiatric and the psychologic approaches to mental health, oh still have limited idea here.

There are some really good articles in this month's Nursing 2003 magazine. One is on depression and one is called "The Patient with the Showgirl Eyes." They illustrate issues regarding mental health in nursing. http://www.nursing2003.com

jayna, could it be they want a contrast between inpatient ,and outpatient treatment?

or drugs vs talk therapy ?

Shaking my head, not a subject I obviously know much about.
