Gateway to ASU CEP (nursing)

Nurses General Nursing

Hey guys,

I need some help! I'm finishing my last two prerequisites this coming semester and applying for the Nursing program in Dec. 2016. I'm hoping to be accepted at ASU for the CEP; however, my advisor is very adamant about me not only completing ASU requirements but NAU requirements as well. My advisor says that I should complete NAU requirements as a back up in case I don't get accepted at ASU. I'm pretty confident about being accepted at ASU and I have a high GPA. Should I go with what my advisor is suggesting (completing ASU and NAU requirements) or can I slide with the requirements of the university (ASU) of my choice?

It is not difficult to qualify for ASU, the problem is how long do you have to wait.

I would take her advice and place for both.

When I was ready to apply to ASU it was going to be around a 1.5-2 year wait for me...the wait started AFTER I completed my pre-reqs...this was some years ago and things have changed but putting your eggs in more than 1 basket may be of benefit to you.

Hello,

I am in pretty much the same boat as you. I just need BIO 205 and PSY 240 this fall, and am taking HCR 240 in the spring semester. I am planning on applying for both ASU and NAU. I met with an advisor today and she let me know you can choose up to 3 schools to apply to. I think it's worth applying to more than just 1 University to be safe. Good luck to you!

I think it couldn't hurt to apply to more than one. You won't be the only person with high grades and a good HESI who apply. The CEP program isn't the most competitive yet, but it is getting to be because of the cost to get the BSN.

As as for the poster who mentioned a wait list with CEP, this is not true. There is no wait list with CEP. There is a wait list for the main nursing program, but for those that apply to CEP you either get in or you don't. If you aren't accepts to CEP then you remain on the wait list and can apply again the next semester.
