Gas Prices thru the roof

Morning!!

As I am sure all of you know, the gas prices are gonna go thru the roof. Have already gotten my credit report copied and just figure I'm gonna have to get a loan soon to fill up the tank, so why not be ready. So, here is the problem. Prior to the first of November, I was acting Health Care Director at an AL/PCH. Well, corporate changed and the ax fell on all upper management, which included yours truly. I figured, wow, a chance to be off for the holidays and spend some quality time with the daughter, who is coming home from college. My husband lost his aunt a few months earlier and he was beneficiary from her TSA's, so $$$ was not a problem. Figured it would hold us over to the new year and I could start out fresh then. Well, I was able to collect unemployment also, so I was looking forward to some much needed time off. Well, the holidays are over and since I live in such a rural area, the job choices are not that many. I had worked agency for 9 years prior the the HCD job. I have the option of going back to work for agency, but that means at least 100 miles a day of travel, not to mention the time factor. I figured that what I am making on unemployment, which when I add what I am saving on gas, would just about be the same as if I went agency and put 150.00 in gas each week. The UC is for 26 weeks and to tell you the truth, after the daughter goes back to college, there are only so many days you can sit here without going crazy. I had thought about volunteer work, or getting out of nursing and going into the retail market, but nursing is my calling. So, nurses, need some sound advice here,,,,fire away:levcmmt:

Travel, join the ranks in fulfilling the needs of places other than where you live. Travel nursing offers free housing, incentive pre tax related for having a home base somewhere mor than 100 miles from where you work. Travel money to get to and from your 13 week assignment. Many management and teaching positions available along with bedside nursing too.

Petrol here in the UK is averaging around £1.04 a litre!

aruba 3 years ago was $>6 per gallon, must be higher now. We spent $600per month in NY for gas to work each month. Then took the pay cut for a 20 vrs 90 min. drive. In NC it's #3.15

It's now around £1.41 a litre! :eek:

The agency thing may be best if you can't relocate. It may be the same as you earn on unemployment but at least you won't go stir-crazy.
