Does your office use escribe? If so, what protocols do you have in place? What problems are you having? Do you feel your license is in danger? Would like to hear from those that use it, and what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I know this is a boring topic, but anybody? It seems to me it's just ONE MORE THING for the nurses to have to do, now that the physicians and management have turnd it over to us. The only ones we're not responsible for are the controlled substances, which the docs have to ok first, then we end up putting those in too. How are the other offices doing it? :(

Hello! We used to escribe but just got a new computer system so now we put the med in the system and send it to the doctor for them to actually hit the button to send it to the pharmacy.

Thank you for your response. We use Allscripts. We have certain protocols that the docs have signed off on, but not every patient falls within the protocols. We do not send anything back to the doc to OK it, except controlled subs. I find myself spending lots of time checking for their last office visit, last labs, reading dictation, etc. It is very time consuming I think. Also, I frequently find I've already done it, only to have the very same refill request come again from the pharmacy. Then you have to pull the chart again, find out you've done it the day before, and so deny it and remove it from escribe. Also, frequest calls to the patient to inform no further refills without office visit and/or labs. The work never ends! Well, thanks for listening to my rant. Any others out there and how is your office dealing with it? Anyone know anything about the legal ramifications if any?
