I'm new and have been browsing thru the posts in different areas. I'm just curious--is there an area or specialization that you would say is a less stressful area of nursing (comparatively speaking, that is--say compared to hospital-based med-surg bedside care)?

What ever department you are not working in. Everyone thinks their department is the most stressful and they are right. Nursing is stressful no matter where you work. Just develop good coping techniques now then you can put them into practice later.

I think the OR is great. So I guess maybe there's something wrong with me. It has some stress but mostly it just beats the heck out of anything that is bedside. But that's me, hey, I'm very thankful there are those who thrive at the bedside, that's the kind of nurse I want beside me after surgery. I think there is a special place in heaven for all the nurse who juggle patients successfully. :)

PACU is great. It is stressfull but in a different way from med/surg. I can put up with anything for an hour. When I work ICU I want to trade pt with everyone every 1-2 hours. That would be great!! :chuckle
