Thanks for that link. Sounds pretty scary.

Thanks for the link....I hit the CDC site Saturday night after the 'mystery illness' hit the evening news.

The thing that worries me is, the people who have died or become seriously ill are healthy adults, not individuals who are otherwise debilitated. This was a hallmark of the 1917 global flu pandemic. :chair::o :chair:

Is it a good sign that we have not heard anything new from the CDC about this in last 24 hours? Or has war news just pushed it off front page?

Oh dear, I posted that remark about no news is good news and then they hold a news conference.

BBC News

Looks like we have a possible case here now:eek:

Just wondering, have any hospitals discussed this with staff, or given any additional precautions to be taken if a case is suspected?

We received an email today at work in regards to this. It basically said if someone has respiratory symptoms and has had contact with somebody who has recently traveled out of the states we are to isolate them imediately, contact infection control and gown, glove, wear a N95 mask and eye protection while around the patient. BTW I am in Arizona.

ayemmeff, thanks for link, that is first I heard of case in UK. Cadensmom, do you realize that even if you act very quickly to suspected case you will have already been exposed.

I just heard on the news that they have it in Toronto Canada.

It's getting pretty close to home.

SARS has so far proven to be a terrible threat to the health care personnel working with the patients. Also, it has been instructive in watching a "new" disease make itself known.
