Good morning Whisper,

Heartbeat' seems to have been running on LWT for years. It's set in a Yorkshire village in the '60s and is absolute pants!

Can you tell me what "absolute pants", "Heartbeat" and LWT means? Lower Wales Television perhaps? I heard the phase "knickers" while in Cambridge many years ago. Could this be absolute pants? Oh well. . .

I was thinking that I would like to have a cap from the UK to keep on a shelf next to my MGH cap, where I went to school, which is no longer worn. From what I have seen of caps in the UK, they can vary greatly from the broad nuns' style to something that looks like a demitasse cup with a napkin stuffed in it. Does Alexandria have a catalogue they could post? Don't you have to wear a cap that is from your school?

For the record, I feel that the nursing dresses etc in UK are very smart and professional and I wish we could wear that kind of uniform here. I am older and I want to be seen as a nurse and not as part of the cleaning staff or the kitchen workers. I still morn the real loss of dignity and professionalism of American nursing. Granted whites were harder to keep clean, but I have had friends wearing scrubs and white shoes, which are unmistakably the uniform of a nurse, have men stand and give them their seat on the subway here in Boston. She could not stop talking about that for days. Even your dresses with piping around the neck and collar look terrific. Here you will be hard pressed to spend more than $25 on a set of scrubs, although I would happily pay twice that for something that looked better.

Sorry, this is a bit off the original cap issue.

Good evening, Ariko

And here are I hope the answers to your questions:

absolute pants, is generally a compliment!, pants on its own generally means something is rubbish or trash:) And yes in the UK pants mean the same as knickers.

Heartbeat is Filmed in Goathland, I have been there many times, it is in the North York Moors, and is situated between where I live In Yorkshire and the seaside resort of Whitby.

LWT, I think means London west television but I am not sure, allthough I will look into that for you.

The shop alexandria does not have a website, but in January when I return to Uni I'll try and find out about getting a catalouge for you, as well as finding about a web based shop for you.

Thankyou for the compliment on the uniforms;) Allthough as a student I have to be really carefull in case anyone thinks I am qualified, but it is nice to have bus drivers let you on for free, or people to let you to the front of queues!

I have only worn green pyjamas once, after I got code browned on, and I was freezing, they were so uncomfortable and had no pockets, I don't know all american nurses cope! They were also draw string and by the end of my shift they kept comming unfastened.... but that is getting way way off topic:)

Any how, hope that helps some.. And happy holidays.
