Business Suggestions for LPN

Hello its me again. I am asking all fellow healthcare professionals to help out with some healthcare business ideas that I can look into with not too much funding as a LPN.

If your intention is to engage in an independent business venture associated with providing nursing services, it may be very difficult due to the scope of practice for LP/VNs. Check with your state's Nurse Practice Act (NPA) for specifics, but it is probably requires LPNs to be actively supervised by RNs or MDs.

OTOH, your nursing knowledge would be a huge asset if you wanted to work in DME (medical equipment). I know an LVN who works as an 'independent' medical records auditor to review patient charges - for individuals & insurance companies who are disputing bills . You could become a certified Red Cross first aid instructor. You could become a certified AHA instructor & run your own CPR training business. Lots of possibilities.

chyna73...the possibilities are truly endless. sometimes it takes thinking out side of the box. what i will say is due to our scope of practice you must consider networking with some RNS because you will find most of the time a RN is needed. once you do that you'll be fine. i live in california and i want to open a home for medically fragile children. so my first step is starting to do foster care first for those type of children and eventually move towards that direction. good luck to you
