Babies who have experienced BPD are at a greater risk for developing recurrent respiratory infections requiring hospitalization (see pneumonia). Many of the cystic changes of the airways (bronchioles) that occur in babies with bronchopulmonary dysplasia are permanent.

thx for the info PRN.. I know she is very susceptible to pneumonia... My question is...Can it just

"pop" up like this? She has been hospitalized 3 x's... without anyone even having a clue...myself and another HH nurse picked up on "something is not right" aura right away.....

It can pop up pretty quick. Have you ever gotten up feeling fine and then felt like you had a cold later in the day? A bad BPD kid can develop pneumonia soon after.

Go to the nurse anesthesia page. We have tostudy this in school before graduation....ask there.
