Assignments

Nurses General Nursing

Published

i am currently undertaking a nsg course, and an assignment is due in two weeks....

most of the class were here today, but it also figures that others are stressing over the fact that they havent started. though looking at people run around trying to get all the last minute materials together, its kind of funny too...becoz you kind of see the real them, thru their actions.

anyways...how were you all with assignments, while preparing for the profession....assignments these days seem to be more of a burden then a blessing..ummmm

look forward to hearing your thoughts...tai

LOL..yep, sounds like me in nursing school. I graduated in May, and I can definitely say I was a procrastinator...I started many assignments the weekend before they were due...studied for many tests the night before they were given...but I still got good grades and passed boards! ;)

Of course, if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't wait so long to do things...it caused me a lot more stress than I would have had if I hadn't procrastinated. Maybe I'll reconcile my ways when I go back for my master's degree...

i liked to wait until the night before. i would stay up all night long drinking pots of coffee and smoking a carton of cigarettes.

i would complete the assignment or studying, get dressed and go off to class or clinicals.

i was such an ass...lol

Hi Tai,

I have to say in all honesty I start assigments ASAP because this allows me more time to do a better job and get a better mark. By finishing them early you can work on your next one or study for a test and never have a time management problem. Having said that this is the systemt that works best for me, you , however, have to find the system that works for you.

i would wait until the night before for tests. my roomie (who was also in nursing) and i would put a pot of coffee on or buy lots of pop and stay up all night, allowing each other to take 2 hour naps. we really pushed each other. we'd study up until a half hour before class, throw on some clothes and baseball caps and take the test. we received nothing lower than a "B" on all of our tests. so i truly believe that she and i were better at doing things when we procrastinated. as for papers, i would get all of my information and sources and then wait until the night before to type them out. i'm one of the lucky ppl who was born with the power of good Bulls****. the night before clinicals i tried going to bed no later than 3AM, and sleep on the bus to clinicals. you'd never know now that i was a major night owl in college. i can't even make it until midnight anymore!!! the real world...you gotta love it.:) ;)

Oh dear, I was the one you all hated....I'd go home and start the assignment that very night. Then I'd turn it in like 2 weeks BEFORE it was due.......please don't hate me. I'm just a LITTLE obsessive......

Kia ora Tai, haven't seen ya for ages (It's Mwa, Tania)

Guess you're doing this from the computer lab. I can imagine people will be rushing round like mad ducks to get this assignment done. I'm glad I kept up with all the modules until about 4 weeks ago, when I got totally bored with the whole subject. Had no idea what topic I was doing until yesterday when I came on this site, and my topic kinda found me, so I'm back on track again. Good to catch up with you.

Smooth cruisin'

Auckland, NZ huh?...i used to have a pen pal from there and always wanted to visit her. haven't written to her in years. any of you know fiona mcgeorge?

..i hate you:D :D :D

Boy i wish i was like you, P_RN, good on you.

As for me, am one of the last minute person...must change this attitude:D :D aggghhhh

cheers...

P-RN,

I am like you. My assignments have to be completed as soon as possible because when I have them sitting on my desk at home I feel burdened.

I "attack" my assignments as soon as I get home. I used to procrastinate a lot and realized that it was of detriment to my life as a student. I try to keep up with my professor and read my chapters before the class begins. I find this easier as some of the stress of studying will be relieved because you would have understood most of the things dicussed in the class which makes life easier for revision.

I try to always stay ahead because for some reason, if I'm not ahead then I am waaaay behind. I read before lectures and start on things almost immediately. Who needs the extra stress from being behind?

It was a while ago now but the memory is vivid....

I used to start my assignments real early, but never finished it till the last minute, I'm sure i wrote the damn thing about 100 times in my head and I'd wake-up thinkin "I'll do it today" and never did

Contrary to what my husband says I never actully needed to get and extention of time but i considered the option plenty of times, especially when I was hung-over or up typing in the wee small hours of the due date.

I look back now and wonder how i actually passed some subjects:confused:
