Hi all!

I started my peds rotation today and my professor was lecturing on how to assess pain in babies and young children. She mostly discussed using the FLACS scale, vitals, etc. She didn't really mention any new techniques or interventions.

Last year I read an article about a nurse researcher that was investigating the use of a color changing "globe" that would help narrow the babies level of pain based on physiological measurements and such. I have been trying to find this article but have had no luck. I can't find it anywhere in the nursing journals or the internet. I am not sure if I am using the correct terms though. Do any of y'all know what I am talking about? I am very interested in learning of any new approved nursing practice in terms of pain assessment and do not want to approach my professor without any literature to back it up.
