Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there is currently enrolled in the nursing program at South Suburban College in South Holland or if you have graduated from the program? I have a few questions my counselor cant seem to answer.

Hello,

I do not attend SSC, but I do got to Prairie State. However, I work with several people who do go to SSC if you want me to ask them some questions about thier program.

Thanks. I was just wondering did they get accepted when they first applied or were they put on a waiting list? What are the class sizes like? I guess my main concern right now is getting in. I dont want to have to wait or apply somewhere else.

I graduated from South Suburban college nursing program 20+ years ago; only then it was called Thornton Community College.

What is the problem/issue there?

Running w/scissors, was there a waiting list back then? Did you continue your education? How soon did you find work? My counselor told me they do not have job assistance but do hold job fairs throughout the year. So I guess you are on your own after graduating. Would you recommend the program?

As far as I know, there has always been a waiting list for nursing programs, even back in the 70's when I attended there.

You are always on your own to find a job after graduation. It shouldn't even be an issue. Do you have an idea how you want to practice nursing yet? (hospital, clinic, etc.)....you will get a chance to get a feel for these areas during clinicals and get an idea where you want to work.

As far as I know, there is a waiting list at all the JC's in our area, unless you have most if not all of your prereq's done. There is no job placement either at SSC, PSC, or MVCC. Class size from what I was told was average lecture has the most students and clinical has no more than 12.

Hello Reese,

Yesterday I thought I responded to this post, (a long reply too).

SSC is somewhat notorious, what is the question you are asking?

Wait, I answered it in the Illinois thread...did you start another one elsewhere too? That can be tricky because then folks reading and replying in one thread will miss the replies in another.

Maybe you want to ask the moderators to switch this thread back over into the Illinois thread?
