any advice on shoes?

  1. Not the most "critical" topic, but what shoes/clogs/whatever have you found to be the most comfortable to wear on those long 12+ hr shifts?
    Thanks,
Grace (whose feet are really starting to hurt)

I love my Danskos and New Balance tennis shoes. Of course, it helped that my mother-in-law bought them for me as a graduation present last year...they are expensive!!

I know I ruined my feet by wearing cheap shoes at the beginning of my career. When I wear white "nursing shoes", I wear a high quality runner.

I wear Saucony. They're the best for me. I also use a gel-sole insert that I replace every few months.

I love my Quarks!! They are so lightweight and comfy. I wash them in the laundryroom sink--they clean up great. Best of all, they were only about $30.

I have Dankso and Birkenstocks, love them both. I also found these shoes on sale at Payless of all places that are so comfortable, slip on shoes and I've never, ever been a fan of Payless shoes of any kind, but for some reason (maybe because I bought them in wide and an extra 1/2 size up) they are way comfortable.

Dansko shoes are the best. I got several pairs of it in different colors to match my scrubs. It's kinda expensive but it's worth it besides I needed to pamper myself a little bit.

I wear the cheapo walmart version of crocs......they are so darned comfortable! And for $8.99 I am not complaining! They feel like slippers on my feet... and I have a pair I wear with my street clothes as well.
Everyone is different, but for me these are the most comfortable shoe to wear. I just got a pink/yellow marble patterned pair ..lol...people will see me coming a mile away..lol....I have black, white, and now the "loud" pair...hehe

Before spending lots of money on a good pair of shoes: Because every ones feet are different, a good shoe store will let you take the shoes home, wear them around the house for a few days (avoiding dirt etc) and bring them back if they don't work. This is how I discovered Dankos don't work for me.... OUCH! I use "SAS Free Time" AKA "old lady shoes" ugly as heck and ~$125, but they last forever and are very comfy.

I love my Dansko's NOW, but it takes about three weeks to break them in. Wear them LOTS before you wear them to work. I also like my running shoes with the Dr. Schols inserts.

The heels on Dansko's look a bit high...are they really that comfy?
