A question about Anzemet....

Had surgery today and they gave me Anzemet instead of Reglan (Had a really freaky experience with Reglan last time). Anzemet is wonderful! No side effects for me but I don't know much about the drug. I know it's in the same class a Zofran but I work in NICU so it's not a drug I ever give.

If anyone would update me on in it, I would appreciate it. I haven't been able to find a lot about it online and it's not in my drug book.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks Sunnygirl. The anesthesia must still be fogging my brain :D :D

Great, great drug but expensive. Used in Onco alot.

Hope your surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery!!!

Anzemet is a 5HT3 antagonist. Same class as Zofran, but a little cheaper. It also has a somewhat tighter time for administration when used to prevent post op nausea and vomiting. But, like zofran, its a great drug. 5HT3 antagonists have done wonders for patients who usually suffer lots of nausea post op, and these drugs are miracles for chemo patients.
