5 pounds per year

Nurses General Nursing

Since I have been a nurse that is what I gained in weight (over 7 years as a RN).

I finally just told myself, NO MORE. I have to take better care of myself. I was at the ideal weight for my height when I graduated from nursing school. I just find it funny(in a sad way) that all my co-workers are in a similar weight situation. I am bringing in food from home now, and excersising.Hopefully I can undo the damage in a few months.

Anyone here have this experience?

Specializes in 6 years of ER fun, med/surg, blah, blah.

When I worked nights, I would eat dinner before going into work & then if I felt I had to eat, would only do so before 3 am. I worked in a busy ED so didn't have time to take much of a lunch break, if any & I stayed away from chips, etc. And have a big cup of coffee in the beginning of my shift & that would do me. When I am working, I always take off some weight, but then I'm constantly on my feet. And when I got home in the AM, would have a p-nut better sandwich & some milk as then I would sleep & not wake up because I was hungry.
