Thank you Carri for the information. I'm in Michigan and am having a hard time finding any programs for this field. Would you suggest any online programs that would be good to get certified?

Hi TJ! I hope you don't mind me jumping in!

I am currently doing a paper and I came across this great map. You click on your state and it will give you a list of programs in your state. Now this is for SANE and I am not sure what branch you were wanting to pursue. If this is not what you are looking for post again. I have seen several sites and I would be happy to post a link for you. This one was really good.

Do you think that the show BONES explains what the role of Forensic Science is? Or it doesn't why or why not?

I think all these shows are for entertainment only. Some have great insight into the world of forensics, but must be taken with a grain of salt, if you will.

CSI, Bones, Criminal Minds, Wire in the Blood (all are some of my fav TV programs, BTW).....all are interesting and cleverly written, but the real world is the best teacher. The ED is a perfect place to work to gain information about how much is done regarding forensics and I suggest this for anyone to work and get experience. Shadow an ME/coroner in your area. Seek out formal education as forensic nurse and/or SANE/SART, etc. Lots of ways to go.
