Closing in on my second week and very happy with my decision to attend. Boatload of studying, but love each class (even the stress of the checkoffs).

Tampagirl,
I start the evening program at Erwin in March.
Congrats on being almost finished!!!
How was the program?? Did you prefer one hospital over
another for clinicals?? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just
very excited to get started.
Thanks.

First off I'm in the night program so I don't know if this will apply to you but it's similar for the day program.
The program itself is very face paced just because there is a lot of information to cover. With that said they usually have you do it one course at a time so that helps with studying and homework that you might have to do since it's related to what you are doing in class.
You'll have your first clinical in geri/hospital experience I believe about 6 weeks after you start so get ready for that know. If you have CNA experience you'l do fine in this rotaton because that's all you'll be doing. If you don't your still fine because it's easy stuff that they have you do.
I can't really recommend a good clinical location because they may change. We had clinicals at JKV(geri), St Joes, St Joes Womens, Memorial, Sun City, VA, and Brandon. If you have these options go to the VA (I didn't) that's the only place that I can say that you will do everything you are taught in class. As for me I thought clinicals were boring for the most part just because there was a lot of stuff that we didn't get to see because some of the hospitals only let you go on certain floors, other schools are there at the same time as you (RN programs get the best spots first), or procedures were done before you got there.
You'll learn a lot the teachers are prety laid back once you get to know them but they still have standards that you have to follow. Other than that you'll have fun and once you get to the end you'll be surprised how fast the time went. I swear it feels like I just started.
If you want to know anything else pm me and I'll try to answer as good as I can because like I said the day and night program do have some differences.

I will be starting the evening program in May, what did you think of the
program and is it do-able if you are working full-time.

Yes it's doable you'll just have to be very strict on your studying time. Just try to stay ahead with the information. In your case you'll get a few weeks off because of summer vacation. Ask the instructors if they'll give you the LAPS for the next couple of classes so you can get ahead.
