USF applicants 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone applying to USF's (University of South Florida) nursing program?. I feel discouraged because I heard how competitive and rigorous it is.I have a 3.7 GPA. finished about half of my pre-reqs, got A's in all of my science courses. A B in statistics, ethics, and humanities:sarcastic:. I'm currently an ambassador at a community college and volunteering at a hospital. If those aren't good enough to get in the program I don't know what will lol. Is anyone here a USF nursing student? I would love to hear your experiences. I hope I can at least get into USF or my community college. If those fail..then it's off to or technical for me!!

@twentyonepilots-- just wondering where you saw the "satisfied by sociology--A" part in oasis? In what section? degreeworks?

@TwentyOnePilots thanks for the info. I appreciate it :)

Yes @uhuynh. Degreeworks shows all classes taken and your GPA. @ecari, you are welcome :)

Hi guys! I applied as well and I am so excited to find out! USF is definitely my top choice of school and, even though I have a seat somewhere else as a backup, I am so nervous!

@twentyonepilots thank you. Hope to meet all of you guys at orientation if we all get in :)

Hey usfgirl, congrats on getting into your other choice. USF is definitely my first choice as well.. fingers crossed. What are your stats if you don't mind me asking? I heard the average GPA was about a 3.7 so we all have a decent chance, provided that our essays were good as well. @uhuynh you are welcome, I hope to meet everyone at orientation too. The wait continues :) lol

Sure, no prob! I have a 3.84 cumulative and a 3.92 prerequisite GPA. All I can say about my essay is that it was my best effort - since I'm not with admissions I can't really say if it is good or bad lol. I honestly don't know what my chances are...I mean, my GPA is good, but with the sheer amount of applicants, many are bound to have great stats. I feel like it all comes down to the essay, and how the readers feel about it (along with their preferences and intuition). All I know is that if I did get accepted I would be the happiest girl in the world!

Wow, nicely done! You have great GPA's. My cumulative is 3.85 and prereq is 3.77. I had 2 B's and all A's in the prereqs. The essay counts for 40% of your ranking so it's hard to tell for sure. I read in old threads about people applying to USF and one person got in with a 3.3 GPA, so their essay must have been great. I agree with you, the essay is where it all boils down to I think. Not many nursing schools require an essay, so I am glad USF did. I feel like it lets us separate ourselves from the other applicants and allows us to explain ourselves. If I get accepted, I will be bouncing off the walls :) lol I really hope it works out for all of us. Time will only tell! The first week of waiting is down and we have about 2-3 more weeks to go.. hang in there guys!

I was hoping we would find out in 2 weeks (what will be this upcoming Friday) since the summer applicants found out promptly in 2 weeks.

That would be great! I really hope that is the case. I'm not sure if more people apply for the fall though or not, so it might take a little longer for us.

Oh there has to be more applicants. Still hoping though!

1 week down!! I am getting more and more anxious to get that email! :) I really hope my essay is great but the longer I sit here and think about it the more I question myself :( Ugh I just want to know!!
