I received my acceptance letter Saturday (Dec 11th). I'm out of state and I have 2 schools to choose between. I've been trying to find posts about how people who are already in the program like it, if they work while they attend, etc.

I've spoken to a few people who started the program this semester that I met here. They all said it was very demanding and very intense but a good program. Didn't sound like there's any time for work unless you can survive without sleep.

Thanks Paco! I agree....I thought there would be a lot more students on here. As for my application, I submitted it VERY early. It was back in March. I already knew that Summer 2011 was when I wanted to start, so I just sent it in as soon as I could.

Mel - I was thinking that about the program as well (no time for work). I'm still working some things out to see if I can swing it, but it will definitely be a BIG adjustment! :eek:

Also, Paco......I see you're an attorney. I'm currently a paralegal. Nice to know someone else is switching from legal to medical! LOL :lol2:

BIG TIME!! :D I should have listened to that little voice in my head 16 years ago while I was in class as a first year student, it was screaming GET OUT, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! I finished my degree because I did not like the idea of being a dropout, and then I thought practicing would make things better, it didn't. I have to say I can look back at a handful of cases I worked on that were very fulfilling and will always have special places in my heart (immigration appeals, 9/11 survivor matters). But in the last 3 years of my active practice, it was all dull paperpushing. I'm clearly ready to move on with my true passion! :up:

I applied for the December 1st deadline and I'm anxiously waiting for my reply. This is a big deal for me to get into UM as you can tell by my screename lol.

As for my application, I submitted it VERY early. It was back in March. I already knew that Summer 2011 was when I wanted to start, so I just sent it in as soon as I could.

Had I known we could apply that early I would have sent it in before summer as well. I was under the impression (as with my other schools) that applications were not available until Sept at the earliest). But in hindsight, I did not have Miami in mind until early Oct. anyway. Waiting on 3 other schools to respond to my application. Hope at least one of them is the ticket!! :D

Can you still apply for UM Summer Admissions after December 1st? I thought the website said the deadline was later. I started the Common Application but it just seemed very confusing. I wish they had a separate application, it would make it a lot easier.

I also thought there were 2 deadlines. Early Decision being Dec 1 and regular being March 1 for the accelerated. Remember reading that somewhere on the website. March 1 seems so late for summer admission though. Did you try calling to ask?

The Common Application was indeed confusing, there were some sections I was not sure how to fill out, seemed geared towards first time college applicants. I did the best I could. They did have a separate application for nursing, it's the supplemental application which was in the forms section. Very simple one.

I was really confused about it. I had just called because I was trying to figure out when to send it in, etc., and the lady just told me to apply right then. I thought it was extremely early to be applying for summer next year myself lol. What other schools did you apply to?

UCF and UNF in Florida, and Stony Brook in New York. I also applied to and was accepted in August for spring 2011 but decided not to go there (their financial aid sucks!).
