UCF Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi! I just wanted to start a thread for everyone that is applying for UCF's BSN program which will begin this Fall, 2012. I think this would be a great place for everyone to share their concerns, nerves about waiting, or questions. :)

So, how is everyone? Which campus are you applying to?

Hi!

I just sent my application for fall 2012 basic BSN at ucf!! so nervous and excited!! :)

leandrito, I also bought the online practice test from ATI, and found them to be very helpful! However, I found the ATI online practice tests to be much more difficult than the actual TEAS test I took, so they stressed me out a little too haha

ery_004, Hi! I know what you mean! I'm so excited too, but also super nervous and the deadline hasn't even closed yet for BSN, so much waiting time!

Hello! Thank you for starting this thread, I have been following since the very first day :) I am applying tomorrow, after I retake the TEAS... a bit nervous.

I have noticed that some of you were wondering what to say on the application for your current degree... Last year I was in the same situation - finishing up my pre-reqs and AA degree. Unfortunately, I wasn't qualified for the program because as it says on the UCF nursing website, all pre-reqs must be completed at the time one is applying for the program. UCF students have more chances for getting in in this situation, but if you are a Com. College student, chances are pretty low. I am not trying to bring anybody down, just sharing my experience with you.

I agree with earlier mentioned opinion about not being able to submit an essay or any kind of info about volunteering. It would have most definitely helped each of us! When I first started taking college classes I barely spoke English, due to that my GPA isn't as high I would like it to be... at least my science GPA is 4.0 :) I hope that our applications will be evaluated mostly by TEAS and science GPA :) (wishful thinking...)

Good luck everyone!

I was almost positive it said 7 out of 8 of the pre-reqs had to be complete when you apply. I may have read that on the nursing application. I actually pulled this from the website:

Complete seven of the eight nursing prerequisites by the application deadline (three must be science courses); any remaining prerequisites must be completed before the program start date.

I honestly do not see how they would look over a CC student with a 3.8-4.0 GPA overall, for a 3.4 overall GPA. Plus I don't think UCF students have a higher percentage over CC students because that would be bias.

I didn't clarify myself. I didn't mean that UCF students have higher priority. Normally if an applicant is an outside student it takes a little bit longer for them to transfer their credits and grades over to a different institution compared to an applicant applying from within. Higher GPA is always better, whether it is an outside applicant or a UCF student, I agree.

All my pre-req credits already transferred over, I just submitted the APG form for all courses even though I took them in Florida. I received the email from UCF about two weeks ago. I think this may be what delays some people.

Yes, I also did the APG form about a month ago even though my bachelors degree is from a Florida univeristy and immediately thereafter received a APG confirmation that ALL of my classes transferred over. It was fairly easy to get that taken care of.

Additionally, I also read that you are able to still complete one course prior to starting school... can someone confirm this? I am taking Micro lab right now and would be devastated if taking that course would in some way hinder my ability to become accepted.

Thanks,

Jacki

Help... i am having a crisis...

questions and please someone who can help me out...

1- how long does it take to know the answer after you submit the application to the university?

2-i have 54 credits taking nutrition and micro lecture and lab now in this semester want to know if have they can accept me and then close and review my application after i finishe ..(april 28 graduation) so i might sent my official transcript.

3-Taking the TEAS in february 13 and nursing application closes on the 15.. does anyone know if the application has an essay or something like that?

THANKS

What do you mean the answer? ... Whether or not you got accepted??

Accelerated BSN sometime in March (March 1-15)

Traditional BSN sometime shortly after the accelerated folks find out.

Check out the UCF website for a more detailed response but it suggests 6-8 weeks I believe.

Oh, and NO essay.

Yaya thank you :).. yeah i meant to say if i got accepted to the university first .. because you have to do two applications one to the university and another for the college of nursing.. i am doing my application the university so once i get accepted ( hope before february 15) i can do the applycation for the nursing school..

FYI: You don't have to wait to be accepted to the University before you fill out a nursing app... they may even review your university app at the same time as the nursing app so apply, apply, apply.
