UCF Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Hi! I just wanted to start a thread for everyone that is applying for UCF's BSN program which will begin this Fall, 2012. I think this would be a great place for everyone to share their concerns, nerves about waiting, or questions. :)

So, how is everyone? Which campus are you applying to?

Actually, what Jacki is doing switching from a teaching career to a nursing career is fairly common. In fact, there are several school districts that require you to hold a double bachelors degree if you should choose to take on the career of a school nurse, and one has to be in teaching the other in nursing.

Yikes! What an interesting conversation to catch up on after not checking for a few days...I'd just like the say how surprised I am that this even started! I know nursing is very competitive and there is a lot of pressure, but I would have never thought our intentions and goals as pre-nursing students (no matter what age or stage we are at in our lives) would be questioned by anyone, especially someone that is already in the field.

Definitely an interesting point of view...

Stay strong everyone. Applications, at least for the BSN program, are due very soon. Good luck and keep positive :specs:

Guys i want to know if someone already did the nursing application and if we have to do another essay besides the essay for admission to the university ...??? HELPPPP

Nope, no separate essay... the nursing application is just the webpage link which asks for your prereqs, etc. That's it! I kind of wish that we could submit an essay, letters of recc, etc, as I feel it would make my app stronger. But from what I understand, they will only go by our GPA and test scores.

Yep, you understood correctly Nikkilicious. It's strictly "a numbers game" as I heard someone put if before. That's all they look at is your personal set of numbers (TEAS score, overall GPA, and pre-req GPA)

Thank you very much :). you guys are rock

Just a quick update, I did a TEAS retake yesterday and scored an overall score of 84%. I feel much more confident now since a previous forum said the average TEAS score was around 83-84%. I started filling out the nursing application yesterday, but does anyone know if we should fill it out as we stand right now, or as it will be when we start the nursing program? For example, I am in Statistics currently and I will graduate in May with my Associates. So do I put that I have an Associates and I have completed Statistics because I will have by the time the program starts? I just don't want to fill the application out incorrectly.

Well we are iin the same case.. i am taking my last classes and graduating this semester ,, while you are doing the application i think that you have to write down the classes that you are taking this semester.. i checked and the last day for application is february 15.. i am taking my teas on the 13 and submit everything by that day.. so you better check with the school because everything has to be send by that day :) good luck and let us know what they said...

I had the same concern when I submitted my application. I am finishing my gen eds now and will have my associates once the Spring semester ends. So, do I answer based on what I will have by the program start date, or were I stand now? I called UCF and they said you have to answer honestly. They said that they understand we may be finishing the gen eds this semester, and that is why they recheck our status and grades and the end of the Spring semester if we are accepted into the program. Hope that helps :)

I think that all schools have the same situation.. their closing dates are in the middle of the spring term which means that some people may be finishing their classes during that term... so thank you very much for that.. i will submit my application once my teas is done which is going to be the 13 of february :).... i hope they take us in consideration because orlando applications are closing by the 02/15

Good luck on your TEAS leandrito!!!!!

I'm sure you'll be considered because the testing date is still before the deadline, and the testing center is pretty quick about sending your scores, so I wouldn't worry.

Thank you :) i just bought an online practice test from ati.. lets see how it goes:)
