Hello all,

Wondering if anyone is either enrolled or knows anything about the online RN program at Broward College? I'm not sure how long its been offered but I'm curious to know how it is. I'm a mom of 4 boys and online would be the best for me.

Thanks

I graduated from BCC generic program, but in my clinicals we had people from online program.

They liked it, everything is offered online except for one day clinical rotations during the week on a wed. or tues thru central campus. All the tests are online as well, timed like the classroom ones.

One of my co-workers was a fulltime social worker who did the program online and got straight A's and one B in the program.

I think that it is a great option for people who have to work full time or for people with families.

I'm doing FIU rn-bsn program now online and it is awesome.

Thank you so very much. That's great news!! I was a little hesitate being that I won't get the classroom interaction and be at a disadvantage but I guess not.

Being that you already graduated, was your work load overwhelming? How much study time would you suggest? Did you feel prepared when you took your licensing exam? Thanks

Hey All,

I'm bumping this post...I'm also wondering if anyone here did the program online. I'd like to continue to work full time, but I'm not sure if the online option will really allow me to. Any additional input is much appreciated!

HONEST, the work load is NOT overwhelming comparing to BSN programs! I had only one class for 8 weeks, then switched over to a new class another 8 weeks, and during the summer it's 6 weeks plus having the clinicals paired with each class.

My one semester at NOVA generic bsn program, I was taking 5 classess-- ended up failing one-- and luckily ended up at bcc where I was a success.

You will be studying, and taking your test-- just like the generic class lecture.

Online is great, you study at your own pace-- and to be quite frankly, the prof. are often not that great at explaining what is needed to pass the tests, so you end up reading everything in the book word for word anyways to pass the exams. and that is what I did to pass.

I suggest reading your books, taking your own notes, review your notes as each test is due, so if you have 2 weeks before the first test then study those two weeks--- that is what I did. and if I did it online I would of done the same thing.

To be quite frankly, soon after graduation I did not feel prepared for the nclex. at bcc they make us take the HESI nclex-rn live review, then after take the hesi test, and I did horribly...... the nests in bcc are not reared to prepare you for nclex, you are basically preparing to pass the tests in school-- there are no fill in the blank math test like the real nclex, or allowed to use calculators like the real nclex, or select all the apply like the real thing--- so I prepared with kaplan, and helen feuer CD's. If you read any of my early posts you will be able to tell how nervous I was to take that exam.

As long as your place of work allows you to have two weeks having a tues or wed off then the rests of the semesters one day per week on a tues or wed. then you can attend the BC online RN program!

There are social workers, teachers, and even paramedics that have done the BCC program online.
