Travel nursing or not in Florida

  1. 0 Hi dear nurses
I am planning to relocate to Tampa, Florida
I am undecided whether to take a travelling assignment or directly get hired by the hospital
I know about the incentives that travel nursing offers but im not sure if i would get less pay or get stuck on a floor and not be able to move?
    Any thoughts?

I don't know where you are relocating from, but the pay for staff nurses is mediocre. However, there are lots of jobs for nurses (experienced ones, that is Hard to get a job as a new grad). Depending on the specialty, I have seen sign on bonuses in the area.

I would recommend traveling to relocate. Then if you like it, stay on staff. I did that with one of the hospital systems' pools, took the housing. I loved it so much I stayed. I am still doing contract pool, so I make good money and can change floors and hospitals every 13 weeks if I want. Even though I am a "contract" nurse, I am employed by the hospital. I really love it.

    Thanks UKjenn, that sounds great
So how do you suggest i can try what you are doing. doing contract while working with the hospital
I really want to get more incentives from the hospitals
also can you tell me which travel agency you worked with and if you were happy with them?

    Hi Ukjenn
I want to find out if you have heard anything about cross country or cirrus medical staffing?
I would like to take an assignment and get some incentives but would also really like to get relocation assistance and i think that would most likely be offered with the hospital directly
What can you tell me about the pay in tampa, i wonder if the travel companies would pay me less than the hospitals
btw i tried to private msg u but i can not until i am more active on this website
Also, what would be a better health coverage bc all i see is plan 401 and i have no idea about the different medical insurance and companies
I am coming from canada and will have +4 years
    thanks again
