State Jobs

U.S.A. Florida

has anyone applied for a state job with Florida and got hired? if so what was the whole process like? i had an interview a month ago and they selected me for the position, but said they sent my paper work to Tallahassee for processing. how long does that take? just wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue. thanks

please if anyone has any info, it would be appreciated.

If you were waiting for a job for income I would say look into other things as well. The state take FOR EVER for pretty much anything they do.

If they really really need you they might hurry up but I would still think it would be a month (??).

That's why the state has a problem filling positions sometimes (and the lowww wages) because they hire people but by the time they get back to them the person has already found another job.

(I'm in Palm Beach County).

If you are tired of hospital work and want a 9-5 with no stress then waiting might not be such a bad idea.

Good luck!!

Thank you. yea i need the hours for my kids so i hope that they will be calling soon.

it took almost 2 months for me to get into my state job once they'd interviewed me and told me i got the job... they were so slow with the paperwork end and i was just sitting around waiting to start... state jobs have had a lot of cutbacks lately, though, so they're probably hard to find right now.

really! well i had the interview i gave a follow up call and he said that he sent my paper work to Tallahassee. so he just waiting on the okay to hire me. so thats where i am now. thanks im not giving up yet.

well it sounds like you are in, then. that's how it happened with me - they sent my paperwork in and waited for the okay from the state... hope it all works out! good luck to you!

what exactly are they doing? what was your actual process if you dont mind me asking.

honestly i don't know what all is involved. i was with an agency that went through a university but was funded with state contracts. so i think it was just the paperwork going through the different agencies, getting signed, and getting put in their 'systems' that took so long. they just said they wanted to hire me but had to get official okay and it would take a while... sorry i'm not much more help!

thanks anyway. well when they call did they say come to work lol. that the same thing im going through, they want to hire, but need the official okay. i just hope its soon. thanks so much.

my employer was good about communicating with me. she called me as soon as she found out to tell me when my start date would be (it was a week or two later). she let me come in the week before to get my office set up and any other paperwork i needed, etc. hopefully it wont be too much longer for you!
