SPC Fall 2014 Nursing Applicants

U.S.A. Florida

So I have done my application for SPC's RN program as well as BayCare's EAYL program. I'm just curious how many other people on here are also applying. We can wait for our acceptance's (wishful thinking) together.

I also applied to both. :)

Im nervous about EAYL that is what I really want to be accepted into but I have no idea what they might be looking for. Its nerve wrecking. Jemcvay are you done with all your prerequisites? Im taking micro this summer :(

I just have ethics. I have a prior B.A. and a 3.6 gpa:/ but I am not a pinellas county resident:(. I was told my only shot of getting in because of my residency is Earn as you Learn. I am soooooo nervous. What about you? GPA? residency?

I do live in Pinellas and as of right now I have a 4.0 gpa. I am really hoping to do the EAYL because I have a 1 year old who has yet to go to daycare and i know its super expensive. Plus the two or three year contract means garenteed experience.

I posted a thread for 2014-2015 SPC hopefuls months ago, but I guess nobody found it. LOL. There actually seems to be 3 threads now. The more, the merrier! I am a Pinellas county resident also. 4.0 in pre-reqs and 3.908 overall. All courses done. Shadokat, I have a 4-year old. Which campus were you attending? I actually do not want to apply to EAYL because I want to go straight through to a BSN and hopefully, directly to an MSN as a certified nurse midwife. At least, those are my big dreams, but things change.

I was going to the Seminole campus but I am taking micro at gibbs this summer. Im also planning on going directly on to my bsn while working. Not sure what I want to do after that.

So I had started a thread too but hope everyone just joins one. I have 3.85 but have micro this summer. I am Pinellas county resident. I hope the pool isn't too big so I have a chance missing those 4 pts for micro.

Is any one else worried about all the things we are going to have to pay for that first semester?

At least you pay as you go - like the $188 approx for background, then CPR course, etc. you could get financial aid for books and I don't think you need your kit and scrubs for a few weeks in. But it is a lot.

I am taking ethics this summer too. I am taking microbiology this fall. I am afraid to take statistics. I began taking it last semester, and had to drop it. I am on the verge of having a 3.8 as well. I am taking HIM classes in the meantime while waiting for the RN program. Its a lot of work but definitely worth it. I am so excited. I am a pinellas county resident and hoping to raise my gpa even more before I get into the program. However, I have been told that people with 3.5's have recently gotten accepted. So I think it depends on whose applying. I do know they take the pinellas county residents... All of them before any other counties, because I used to live in Pasco a few years ago, and didn't even bother to come to this school until we moved as I was told I wouldn't get in because they take all Pinellas residents first. Luckily, my boyfriend got a job and we moved to the area. Still I have three classes left : Stats, Ethics (I am taking now) and Micro in the Fall. I am going to apply right after I am done with Micro. I have been told that people have gotten in as long as they have most of everything done, a good GPA, and residency. How do you get into EAYL? Do you have to be a medical professional in order to be part of that?

Does anyone know exactly how far into the semester it is when our clinicals start once we've been accepted?
