Question for ANY PJC Nursing Student/Alumni

Just a question for those attending or who has attended PJC in Pensacola Fl. Did any of you start the actual program with just having NURSING classes left to take and then you were done? In other words..by the time you got in did you have every single prereq on your degree audit ... (English; Anat/lab 1&2; Micro/lab 1&2; Human Grwth; Nutrition; Sociology; Humanities; Col Algebra; and Aids/OHSA) finished entirely except the 7 nursing classes? That will be my status when I start in the fall and I just wanted to know if this is going to make it easier to complete the program since I heard how difficult it is. I would also love to hear from those who didn't have everything else finished when the started and let me know their experiences! Thanks for any responses :redpinkhe

I would love to know this information as well! Unfortunatley I will still have to take Micro, once I get into the Program.

From people I've talked to, most people get all the pre/co-reqs done before the nursing classes start. But there are those that have other classes to take during the nursing program because they need to for financial aid purposes. The nursing classes alone do not add up to 12 full time credits.

I have every class done except nutrition and I'm taking that along with Intro to Nursing...wish I would have done it already, but I wasn't sure I was going to PJC. I'm taking it online though, so hopefully it won't be too tough.

I'll also have all pre-co reqs done when I enter....hopefully Spring 2011. Had planned on fall 2010 but doesn't look like it's going to work that way with the way the program is geared for entry. Just as well as I can slow down a bit. Took 5 classes this past semester and will only take 3 this semester, 2 in the summer, and 2 in the fall. Math was my biggest holdback. Good luck to all! Thanks for the responses! I am taking Nutrition, Micro Lecture and Sociology this semester, and then I am done until fall when I start. :yeah:

I had all my Pre-req's done and I'm glad I did. I understand, for Financial Aid reasons, why some would take the Nutrition, Micro, Sociology, and Humanities classes at the same time, but I've also seen the toll it can take. If you aren't REALLY well organized, or you have a lot of personal obligation (I have 14 and 5 year old daughters, a hubby), you can really lose your way. My best suggestion, no matter what the classload, get a plan, allow for flexibility and remember, there are Simulations that are OUTSIDE of classtime, Clinical Hours that require paperwork, and you should give yourself PLENTY of study time EVERYDAY (cramming does NOT work). I graduate this Spring. *oh yeah, stay positive and stay away from those who aren't*
