NP program at USF

Anyone applying or in the NP program at USF? I want to go there. I have been doing alot of research. The requirements are easy to get into. How's the NP program there? :nurse:

They have orientation for the NP programs every Tuesday around 10am at the CON. Go to the website and it should give you the orientation info. I attended one and they provide you with a lot of information and answer all your questions. The only program that they mentioned might have a waiting list (GPA related) is the family NP. They said that since they dropped the GRE requirement for MSN that many people are applying to that program, and they have more applicants than available spots. They were not experiencing this problem with the other specialties offered (at least not yet). GRE is only required for CRNA. :D

I'm going tomorrow to attend the info session and find out what I can - thanks, nursegreen for the reply. :)

If anyone else reading is either checking out or actually attending USF for NP - I'd love to hear feedback about your thoughts on the program/admittance/etc.

I have been inquiring for awhile now about the RN (ADN) - MSN program. I am in Ohio, so I watched the on-line orientation, and I have emailed/spoke to several ppl there but I cannot get a straight answer on the time-line.....

Several have told me that to go full-time RN-MSN takes 5 years, but others have told me 2.5-3yrs....

This is obviously a large gap - here in OH the programs are gen. 2.5-3. So I would really love to know what others have heard. I plan to go down to speak to someone/orient the first week of Sept. but I really need to get a definitive answer asap.

Misty1334, I believe it really depends on if you go full time or not. I was told 2.5-3 years or could be longer depending on how long it took me to get through my classess. Also, would depend on how many classess are taken in one semester. There are transition courses that must be taken before you actually enter the Master's portion, and you can take anywhere from one to three classess at a time. It is not recommended to do that at the Master's level and many will take just one or two classess. So, I guess if you only take one or two classess a semester it could take five years. Maybe thats what they were referring to. Atleast that's how I understood it at the orientation in March. Good luck!!!!! :D

I begin in May - I went to the orientation, very casual, and nearly every nursing program is covered.

The RN-MSN program is considered 5 years b/c it takes a total of 5 to go from nothing-RN-BSN-MSN.

I was excited to find out that all I had to do was have my high school send a transcript of my 2 foreign languages, and I would be awarded a BSN after only 1 semester!

There were barely any requirements to get into the program, I was very shocked!!!! I believe all you need to do in excess of your ANS is take "Statistics, College Alg (finite math), and General Psych". Make sure you double check because I'm not 100% positive.

Does anyone know exactly how competitive it is to get into the NP Family Health program at USF? For instance, does anyone know what is the avg. GPA of those accepted into the program?
