NOVA vs FIU Please HELP?????

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello everyone. I got accepted into Nova's nursing school and I was set on it (wondering how I am going to pay for it) but set on it. Then yesterday I receive an email saying I got into FIU's nursing. I know FIU's school is substantially cheaper than Nova..

So I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on which one to choose... If any current nursing students could tell me about their experiences in the programs? Anything!! This is eating away at me and I can't seem to make a choice, so PLEASE HELP!!

@DeepBreath I keep hearing the same thing from a lot of people about FIU.. that you do everything on your own and that there aren't really professors who care, but I am going to try my hardest. Any valuable advice you can give me? The medical math exam is scaring me.. i am not very good at math lol

Lol honestly I find nursing medical math to be very easy and I am not a genius at math. Its very basic. If you are good a dimensional analysis you will be fine and the school is pretty chill when it comes to that. They will give you one more chance if you do not get A on the first try.

Honestly, look up nursing school test taking strategies now. Because as a new nursing student just the style of exams they throw at you is hard. There are two possible good answers you have to determine the best one. There's a bunch of forums right now everywhere (this site, other sites) that will break it down for you. It takes awhile to develop this skill. First semester will cause many to have mental breakdowns. After that you adapt to the stress and get better at time management. PLEASE MAKE TIME TO DO SOMETHING UNRELATED TO NURSING SCHOOL THE FIRST SEMESTER. so many of us talk about how we did nothing and were stressed out all the time studying. GO run instead of drinking coffee because you will turn into a coffee addict. lol :) Running helps to improve retention rate in studying and wakes you up way better than coffee ever does. plus relieves stress.

The professor you guys will have for assessment is literally the best professor in the program. You may not realize that at first but she is.

Now for patho and fundamentals I suggest you going on amazon and buy reviews and rationales (older edition is okay) to get a head start.

Good luck!

btw, you guys will get mentors! Try to get to know them.

@DeepBreath, thank you so much... I am sooo scared.. you have NO idea!!!

Hey! How is the program going???

I got accepted to nova and just turned in my application for fiu... Did you pay the admissions deposit for nova? Because I have 2 weeks to pay but I don't hear from fiu until may..
