U.S.A. Florida

Hi, I wanted to know more about Nova and my chances on getting in. I am applying for Aug. 2010. I am currently attending MDC I have a 3.3 GPA and by the end of spring 2010 ill have a 3.4 or 3.5. Anyone know if I can get into Nova with that?

Any information on the interview at Nova? What questions do they ask? What is the essay about?

Thank you.

I got into their program back in jan 2005, with a 3.3

if your interview goes well, you should get in.

Oh wow you made my day. I went to their open house this past weekend, I loved their campus. I really want to go to Nova.

What questions did they ask you in the interview?

oh yes, the campus is beautiful & the instructors and staff treat you with respect comparing to community colleges-- in my experience anyways. you spend a lot of time in school, and there are many classes to take

However, I am an RN and I do see NSU students doing their rotations & practicums at my place of employment, and I do get a chance to talk to them about the program, teachers, and how their opinion of the school is..... so if i mention things here about the school, is based on what the students say to me.

what did they ask me in the interview?--- it is a general interview, non-specific such as, why do you want to become a nurse, what are your qualities,-- the questions may have changed.. oh yeah, and we also had to write a one page essay right there on the day of the interview. and it is a pannel interveiew, i had the dean and two prof. asking me questions back to back.

I feel that the interview got me in, because i did not have a strong gpa, a 3.3 -- i dressed really nice.

make sure you answer every question, there were questions that i had no idea what to say, but i just tried to make something up anyways--

i love the school, but for my rn-bsn program, i went to fiu for the price, if nova was the same price as fiu, i would of gone to nova.

anything that i can answer for you I will, just pm me here!

wish you the very best!

Yeah, I cant get into the MDC program their cut off is usually a 3.8. I was looking around at different schools and I have heard great things about Nova. I have florida bright futures so that will help the cost.

Right now im writing my application essay, which im nervous about. For the interview I usully do good in job interviews but I just get shy. LOL. But, hopefully I get in Nova is one of my last hopes! If not ill have to go to an LPN school =/.

I have always wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a little girl. I would be so happy if I got in!!!!!

Thank you so much for you time :thankya:

oh you will get in,

write from your heart of your desire to be a nurse, and on the interview just be confident, answer everything.

there was a woman who i met in chemistry class, went to the interview after me, i thought she was very good-- organized, great gpa, thin/good looking (me, I'm obese), and she told me that in the interview she was sooooo nervous, and one of the questions she didn't answer, because she had no idea what to say... and then she asked me what i said to the question, and i just made up an answer at the top of my head at the time, quickly. so def. answer everything.

trully, i hope you get in, and i hope you get the scholarships they offer there where the hospital pays for your entire nova school, with a 3 year contract.

i wish you the very very best!

Thank you so much! You have giving good words of encouragment. I was soon to give up on my goal of becoming an RN.

Thank you for your inspiration!

First I want to say Good Luck with your entrance and always think positive. I know it's nerve wrecking. BumbleBeeRN gave me info on the scholarship giving at Nova as well as Barry University in a earlier thread I wrote, so I looked into Nova and even though I haven't visited the campus yet I'm also interested. Thank You BumbleBee. However, I will be relocating from Jersey and what I read on Nova is that they need 30 credits of GE courses. So being your coming from Dade College how much did you finish up? If you don't mind me asking. Did you do any sciences courses in MDC? Do you still need to do any GE courses in Nova or will you be jumping into the the nursing curriculums?

I did do 30 credit at MDC. I took or am taking the following course:

Anatomy w/ lab 1 and 2 8 Credits

Chemistry w/ lab 4 Credits

Nutrition 3 Credits

Psychology 3 Credits

Sociology 3 Credits

Humanities 3 Credits

Microbiology 3 Credits

and electives.

Ok I see. I was just wondering what I should have before I apply to them if all is well and willing. I've finished or am doing, psy, soc, language, and others that was not on Nova's GE list. For instance pub. speak, and (2) English. No sciences until next Fall. So just curious on what to have completed before filling out the app. But, I wish you best of luck for your entrance and throughout. And thank you.

Yeah I took speech and english 2 also. =) Good luck to you as well.

back in 2005, the nursing program at NSU was very new, so when I applied, i was 2 classes away from my associate's in arts from mdc, that is 60 credits, and i had about 72 credits from there-- i had taken a few other courses nothing to do with nursing.

if you complete the minimum credits they require at nova, that will be enough to get you in the program.

I did everything at MDC
