NE1 have any info on broward community college nursing program?

I just recently learned that a friend and I have both been accepted to broward community college. I wont be attending because i'm already taking classes at Barry and have been accepted into their nursing program. but as for my friend she's torn between going to broward community college and keiser. the reason i ask about BCC is because i've heard terrible things about their program and this seems to be much more than just rumors.

I attended open sessions for other schools nursing programs such as keiser and city college and both programs brought up bcc's program and how they were under scrutiny because a large number of the students were either dropping out of the program or not passing the licensing test. when i asked an advisor about this he said they were changing the admission process because alot of students didnt deserve to be in the program. then during the summer i was taking a class with a rn who graduated from bcc and asked her what was going on with the school. she said the reason why bcc was changing up their admission process was b/c while she was there they were under federal investigation b/c someone who worked in the nursing department(receptionist) was selling papers to students. so far it seems all i'm hearing are negative things.in addition i've also heard they're understaffed, thus overcrowded classes.

Can anyone give any insight into this? my friend is contemplating bcc because it's public therefore alot cheaper while keiser is private.

welcome aboard grave yard

I have my BS in Communications but I'm not sure what will transfer. I need to go down there and talk to an advisor. Thanks for the info!

Well your English will transfer, but unless you took A&P1 and lab, A&P2 and lab and Chem, you will need to take those. But its good you are going there to talk to someone because you will never reach someone on the phone.

I finally found that information online, you're right NOBODY answers the phone! I will have to take all those science classes because they weren't required for my degree. So, I guess I'll be the oldest student in the class! :D Thanks!

your welcome... no, i didnt take it together and i could not imagine doing that

i took

ap 1 & lab summer a mdc prof a fer

ap 2 & lab summer b mdc prof a fer

chemistry fall (taking it now) bcc prof e co (but she teaches at mdc and bcc)

chemistry can be difficult, thats why you have to check and make sure you take it with the right prof.. that will give you lots of extra credit etc.. ia m passing with an a.. only because my prof gives extra work for the quizes...

I'm going to be taking A&P I and lab and Chem during Winter....do you think this is too hard? A&P w prof G.H. (central) and lab with prof J.P. (downtown), chem w prof w.s. (central)...I live closest to central. I only listed prof initials bc I know we're not supposed to list names on here.

I'll also be taking HCP0130 if it opens up...

If anyone else is taking any of these let me know and we could study!

AP I is definitely a heavy hitter. I found chemistry for health sciences was pretty watered down, and didn't require much effort. I wouldn't think it would be too bad to pair the two together.

HCP is a walk in the park. You only need a 75% to pass. I didn't want to spend the money for a book, and there are no notes, so I've been taking all the tests blind. I haven't had a problem. Although admittedly, having already taken micro and anatomy helps. You can check the schedules every now and then to see if the class opens up, but they rarely do until the drop date. The day after the payment due date, wake up as early as possible and you'll see a few spots open up. There are always people who forget to pay.

You can take HCP @ Sheridan Tech , takes 3 weeks (online)

yes take core at sheridan.. I will be taking mines there.. why take is for a full term take it online and be done with it in 3 weeks, BCC will just drag it out...
