Misdemeanor assault 13 yrs ago trying to get a job

U.S.A. Florida

I am a new graduated nurse who has experience as a paramedic. I actually acquired a job in the ER at westside regional in broward and they offered me a $8,000 sign on bonus. After my background check They rescinded the offer because of a 13 yr old misdemeanor assault charge. I had disclosed it on my background check but they said no go.

Does anyone know if this is going to be an ongoing problem or if this is just from this particular hospital?

Wow, I am shocked that it is showing. Are you sure that it is showing or do you think it is possible they are just going off your disclosure? 13 years ago there were very little computers etc and for this to be following you around is strange.

I had an assault and battery charge which I was found guilty of and on top of that was sued personally.

This is not on my record and in fact when I called and spoke to the Chief of police (smaller town) he laughed and told me there was not a chance of it still being around. He checked anyway and there was no record. I also just received my FBI check and its clean.

I would pull your record yourself and check it, if it is there talk to a lawyer about getting it expunged.

Best of luck
