First of all I would like to congratulate everyone that got into MDC nursing program of january 2009. Second, I would like to say hello to the veterans that have been surving the nursing program. Last, I please ask for some tips, or words of advice from all of you that are currently in the MDC nursing program.

Thanks

I hope I am not too late!

OK I have some tips. I am going onto my second semester, and the first they say is just a warm up.

First of all nothing is impossible. The nursing program is difficult because it is an emotional trip as well as a mental one. The strain of seeing people at their last stage can be a lot to take in. That was the hardest part for me this first semester. It was my first time dealing with patients who were elderly, and who could not even talk.

A lot of students did not pass Fundamentals this semester. DO NOT FREAK OUT! Just remember to take everything very seriously. Take notes during class, print all the powerpoints and BRING them with you to class to take notes on them. Do the reading for these powerpoints, and study with lots of time before the test.

Buy study guides, a good one would be Fundamentals Success. AWESOME!!! It will help you with the critical thinking.

Anyway those are my tips. This is how I got through the first semester. The two most difficult things were Clinical in the nursing home, and the performance exams for my Clinical lab which were practices. Doing performance exams in front of the teacher is very scary!

I just graduated 12/17 from MDC Baptist program and I want to wish you the best of luck. I have three smal boys and during my second semester I found out I was pregnant with boy number four. Which means that out of 4 semesters I was pregnent for 3 and had 3 other small kids at home. So if I was able to get by trust me you will do just fine. Study hard and make sure you understand the concepts, don't memorize things. Do NCLEX questions throughout the program and don't leave ATI for the last minute. If you have any questions let me know.
