Job Outlook & Pay for LPNs

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I am scheduled to start LPN school in January at Orlando Tech. I have always wanted to go into nursing and at 44 years old, I finally have the chance. My plan is to keep going towards a BSN since I already have a BS. I like being prepared for what to expect in the future and after looking at job postings for LPNs it doesn't look great. Everyone wants experience and most of the postings don't give a salary.

My questions are:

1) What can I do to make myself employable before graduation? (start somewhere as a CNA, etc)

2) What is the pay range for LPNs?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What did you turn in?

I am going to go full-time. I turned in the paperwork required. They will tell you in the information session exactly what you need to hand in. First come, first serve as far as getting in. I took everything in the day after the information session bc I was so scared I wouldn't get in! I will find my paper and let you know. I wish I could attach it to this. I have done a lot of research on the program and what to expect.

Oh wow. That's awesome. I've been doing research on too many programs.

Where do you live? I was going to do the same, but after being in the LPN program a short while, I will be able to take my certification for CNA. Where are you taking your CNA classes?

Hi,

I am still up in NC moving back to FL this coming summer. I know community colleges tend to offer the CNA classes. There were 2 up in Jacksonville. The Red Cross offers classes too for cheap!

Hi. I have my info session tomorrow. I did find out January is full. The next full time is august. I'm OK with that. I'm hoping I can get financial aid. I can't get aid for an AS degree or a Bachelors. But I think I may be able to with this. As I think its more a career certificate. So I hope I found my loophole to help me out a bit. I've been paying for pre reqs out of pocket. I show a need but can't get the pell because I have a AA degree. Anyhow. Waiting until august allows me to get all my ducks in a row and save.
