In order to be eligible to apply to the nursing program you must be enrolled in FSCJ as a student and be admitted to the college as a student. If you have not taken your general education courses you must begin in the Admission Office, meet with an Student Success Advisor (904-766-6700) to begin taking the general education courses required before you can apply to the nursing program. Once accepted into the program, it will take sixteen months to complete.

In order to be eligible to apply to the nursing program you will need to summit the following to the nursing department in a complete packet attached together:

5. All students must have a 2.0 or higher GPA just to apply.

Acceptance into the program is based on the point system in the nursing packet that was emailed to you. The higher your points are, the better your chances.

Class and Clinical Schedules:

1. Class and clinical schedules will vary and students SHOULD NOT make work or other commitments until the semester begins and schedules have been finalized.

2. Class Instructors and clinical facilities are subject to change. Listing an instructor's name or a clinical facility in no way obligates the college to provide said instructor or facility.

3. Typically, Daytime classes are offered during the daytime (8 am-6 pm). However, it may be necessary to schedule classes during the evening, e.g. 6 pm - 9 pm.

4. Typically, Evening/Weekend classes are scheduled from 6 pm - 10 pm weeknights and clinicals from 7 am - 7 pm on weekends. But, it may be necessary to attend some scheduled activities such as course testing/special events and/or clinical site orientation during the day.

5. Orientation to clinical agencies is an agency requirement and may be scheduled daytime, nights, or weekends.

6. Clinical experience requires students to be prepared which necessitates going to the hospital on the day before clinicals to obtain the assignments (Applies to both Day and Evening/Weekend students). Clinical hours may vary due to holidays and students are expected to adjust their personal schedules accordingly.

7. Sections with a small number of registered students are subject to cancellation. Students so impacted will be reassigned to another section with the goal of achieving successful program objectives and meaningful student learning.

8. All students' testing is scheduled during out of class time on Mondays. ALL TESTING IS ON MONDAY FOR DAY AND WEEKEND/EVENING STUDENTS. Students must be an FSCJ student to apply.

1. The number of students who typically apply for the nursing program?

2. How many students the program accepts?

Fall 144 seats

Spring 144 seats

Summer 96 seats

3. Any additional test requirements and if so, what's the cost and how many times can you take it?

HESI A2 test call (904) 766-6708 to sign up.

It can be taken twice a year. (take it once and you must wait 90 days to take the test a second time)

4. Do I need reference letters, from whom and how many.

Reference letters are not part of the nursing program requirements.

Thanks SamanthaSC2006. I spoke with someone in the office earlier this week and it seems right now the only thing they can confirm is that you can still be enrolled in Micro for the spring term.

Hey Kristin729,

I don't about St. Vincents. The classes I see are running around $45. The BLS will be last on my list for the application. I kind of want to see where I stand with the HESI before I sign up for the class. I know from previous years nursing students were getting away with submitting proof of BLS certification after admission to the program. Not sure if they are still allowing it though. Here is a link for some BLS classes.

Has anyone taken the HESI A2 exam? How long did it take you to finish the exam? What topics did it cover, was Physics and Chemistry on there? Any study advice, test taking tips, etc from those who have taken it?

It is pretty easy to be honest. The only sections it covers math reading comprehension biology and A&P. The science sections are the hardest so def study up on those!

does anyone know if chemistry with a lab would be a requirement

nevermind i found the answer to my question. Now does anyone know if the deadline for spring 2015 august 1st or october 1st

Deadline is October 1 for spring 2015

do I need my asn degree before applying for my bsn degree?

If your talking about in the matter of FSCJ then yes but sumwhere like UNF you would just got straight for an BSN

does the deadline October 1 apply for the practical nursing as well?

My heart about stopped when I just looked online at the FSCJ website and it said the application cut-off for Spring term was 8/1. I'm so happy to see we still have until 10/1 to apply! I know a lot is changing, but I was not prepared for that. If anyone has any advice for the HESI, PLEASE let me know :)

Is anyone applying for spring 2016? How do I calculate my points?

Are you sure about the application deadlines? On the FSCJ website it says:

Application deadlines:

  • Fall Term deadline: April 1 - June 1
  • Spring Term deadline: August 1 - October 1
  • Summer Term deadline: December 1 - February 1

Which makes more sense for people like myself who are finishing pre-reqs this semester and hope to apply for the fall. (Semester ends 5/1)

Thanks!
