Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Wow that's a huge bummer! :( I worked so hard to get better grades. I'm definitely going to submit my app though.

In the event that you are not accepted, I want to say LPN - RN bridge programs auto-accept LPN's that apply. At least I think that's the standard, that is if you'd be willing to do the LPN route if necessary.

My ultimate career goal is to be a certified nurse midwife. I absolutely love pregnancy (I have 3 small children and I loved every second of pregnancy and the delivery process). Anything pregnancy/labor & delivery fascinates me. The first stepping stone in my goal is to become an RN. As I said, I'm a mother - so I take care of people all day long. Every time that I've been in the hospital, I have gained a great appreciation for my nurses. A friendly face makes it all better :) I want to be that friendly face for people.

My ultimate goal is to get my MS, and become either a NNP (Neonatal Nurse Practitioner) or CNM. I have had such wonderful experiences with midwives and out of hospital births. I'm currently 5 weeks away from expecting our third baby, and will be having her with a midwife as well. I also am very interested in Neonatology. First step is becoming an RN, then doing USF's RN-BSN bridge program. At that point I'll decide which MS program to apply for.

That is wonderful!! Good luck on your upcoming delivery! Are you having the baby at home with a midwife or at a birthing center or hospital? Neonatology would definitely be a rewarding career :)

Thank you! We will be having her at an out of hospital birthing center (Labor of Love in Lutz- highly recommend them!).

Hey ALL! I LOVE reading the posts. It makes me soo excited. I have to admit I was stalking this thread for the longest time (he he he :lol2:) I just dropped my application off earlier this week (I know kinda slow) but I too was waiting on transcripts. I applied for the night/ weekend @ DM campus. Just wanted to say good luck to all!

Just discovered tonight my $53 check was cashed, which confirms they got my packet! I've never been more THRILLED to lose money!

lololol

:D

woooooooooooo!

And guess what I received today? My SASE postcard (which I included with my packet) with a big fat stamp on the back that said:

YAY! :D The ball is really rolling now! ^_^

I have a question, hopefully someone could answer.

So, how does registering for classes work once you get accepted? Do you just go through web advisor and search selections or do they assign you your classes? I might be ahead of the ball here, they might explain this in the acceptance letter, but I was just hoping to know what to expect ahead of time. All comments are appreciated.

Hi everyone! I just dropped off my application. I applied for DM night/weekend, and my GPA is a 3.71. Good luck to all!
