Good RN Programs South Florida

U.S.A. Florida

Good Morning everyone im ashton i will be seperating from the Marine Corps after 7 years come this October. I will be moving back to Miami/Pembroke Pines Area and im looking for a good RN program that will still allow me to have a full time job on the side so far I have spoke to Keiser Miami Campus and Career College Miami Campus. I believe Keiser said classes are once a week and im not sure what Career College said about how often classes are. If anyone have a review on either college can you please share your experience with either college. If anyone also knows of colleges that have classes a few time a week that will allow me to have a full time job please share, thank you very much

From what I know about Keiser, your first 9-10 months you will be doing pre-reqs and you can meet from 8-1, or 4-10 I think but I think it's every day, or you can do online classes. That takes about a year. After that you will have the nursing classes so you will be going to school pretty much Monday thru Friday. Also Keiser will have you take the TEAST test before you do anything else. Good luck! :)

IMO you're gonna need to spend a boatload of time studying no matter what nursing school you go to.

My school is a for profit school (ITT Tech St Pete, but they have campuses everywhere, though not all have nursing yet) and they are expensive (BTW they accept the GI Bill if that helps.) For me, they were the best option and I am happy with the program. My "in the classroom" classes are only 2 days/week, 9a-2p. The days change every quarter though.. next quarter for nursing and A&P 1 the days are Mondays and Fridays for my class. I also have one general ed class every quarter and its entirely online. so I have to fit that in wherever. We don't start clinicals in my group til next year, so I can't give you definite info on that.. but I was told that it's going to add one day/week to the schedule. Last quarter my group's nursing classes were on Wed & Thursdays, same times as previously. The first quarter I was in class on Thursdays & Fridays. Like I said, it varies. They do not have night time nursing classes. I don't know how a schedule that changes every quarter would work for you, I guess it depends on the kind of work you are going to be doing.

Your best option would probably be to attend part time at a state university or college. It would also be a LOT cheaper than the for profit schools like ITT, Keiser, etc etc. Just a thought.
