FAMU Nursing Spring 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

So I know it's somewhat far out, but anyone planning to apply to FAMU's nursing school in Spring 2012? I'm currently AD USAF, but I will be separating VERY soon (yay! and sad at the same time :crying2:) to pursue school full time. I'm still a few classes short of my A.A., but hoping to have it by summer next year. Anybody else in the same boat? Or am I floating by myself?

Did anyone apply for 2012 nursing program at Famu?

I recently applied for the spring 2012. I am so nervous about getting in! I looked online, and it said that transfer orientation was November 15th. Seeing that we don't know if we get into the program till December, should I still go? I will have to miss my microbiology class so that will be bad. Also, they make you register for classes, and again how can we do that, if you do not know for sure if you got in? Does anyone have any suggestions???

Hi Nathalie45,

I have the same questions as you, I don't know if I am going to the orientation but I am going to take a trip to Famu to get my financial aid sorted out just in case I get accepted. I also applied for the Spring 2012 but I am nervous because my GPA is not as high as some other people GPA. Do you know how to set up our email, I mean I called the help desk and they helped me set up my irattler account but for some reason I can't access the email.

Hey Lynn, I tried logging on too, and the page would not load. I'm not worried about it because they correspond with you through email. I don't think I will go to orientation though. I got an email saying that we won't hear back from them till december 22. They will call that day if we get in, and if we don't they will send an email. Good luck! The waiting game is killing me, I hate not knowing where I will be going to school next year.

You received an email from them? Wow I didn't receive any emails. Well lets just wait and see what happens. Good luck

Hey you guys! I am currently taking classes at CF and was looking at going to FAMU. Does anyone know what is the acceptance rate for FAMU? I have a 3.6 right now. But I haven't taken micro bio or a&p II. Also, would my classes transfer alright? I look at the school website and it said there is no entrance exam? Is that right? Or is there an entrance exam such as the HESI?

Hey Iwanttobeanurse,

Your classes should transfer ones you go to a public university or community college. Your GPA is great, a friend of mine got in the program with just a 2.8 but she was already a FAMU student. No there is no entrance exam. I'm not sure about the exceptance rate.

Thank you so much for you quick reply! Wow That makes me feel better that she got in. I really hope they'll accept me into the program. This looks like such a great university! Lynn keep us posted on your journey at FAMU! I'm sure it's going to be awesome!

@ Lynn12, are you positive you friend got into the FAMU SON with a 2.8 GPA or just admitted into the university? The SON do not even look at GPA's below 3.5. Their program is very competitive, for their 50 seats sping and fall.

@RN in Florida, yes I'm positive that was her GPA when she got into the FAMU RN program because I asked her to show me her transcript becuase I didn't believe her. The thing is that she was already in the RN program and she decided that the program was to difficult half way through and graduated with another major. Finally two years later she decided to reapply for the RN program to try again, she was only missing a couple of classes because when she got out of the program she was able to take the state test to get her LPN. She just graduated last year. Good luck to every one

yeah i have a friend who got in with a 2.8 gpa, but that was a few years ago. he actually dropped out of the program 1/2way thru, and has since graduated with a degree in healthcare management, but he did say that they have since made it harder to get in the SoN. i spoke to one of the counselors, she told me that they didn't admit anyone with less than a 3.3 for fall 2011. i submitted an application for spring 2012, and i had better than a 3.0, but less than a 3.5, so i guess we'll see what happens. good luck to all else who applied, i hope to see ya'll there!

@ Camille 323, I truly hope you get in too. Its too bad, they only have 50 seats to fill for fall and spring. I hope you have applied to other programs for back-up just in case. Good luck to you.
